About the Dean and Chairman of OCR

Prof. Donald BissonDonald Bisson, a Humber College alumnus, initially pursued a career in Electrical Engineering and spent 14 years with the Toronto Transit Commission. His journey into reflexology began in 1976, following his certification by the Reflexology Association of Canada (RAC). He played a significant role in the RAC, serving as a Director, three-time President, a Reflexology Teacher, Teacher Trainer, Teacher Coordinator, and Chair of the Transitional Committee. Donald was pivotal in revitalizing the RAC in the 1980s, transforming it into a robust and significant association. He also contributed to the founding of the International Council of Reflexologists (ICR) in 1991 in Toronto and was a Director for one term.

In 1996, Donald founded the Ontario College of Reflexology (OCR) to elevate standards in education and professionalism in reflexology. Under his leadership, the OCR gained international recognition for its college-level reflexology courses and strong online presence, attracting students worldwide for correspondence courses.

Currently serving as the Dean and Chairman of the College, Donald has been recognized as a Professor of Reflexology by the Board of Directors. His involvement extended to establishing the Reflexology Registration Council of Ontario (RRCO) in 1997, a voluntary registration body for Reflexologists, in collaboration with other schools and organizations. This initiative has become increasingly vital due to growing municipal issues related to licensing and differentiating legitimate Reflexologists from erotic body rub parlors. Donald has contributed significantly to the RRCO, serving two terms as chairman and two terms as vice-chair.

Donald has also authored all Reflexology textbooks that are used in the college and is now writing a new book.

In September 2003, Donald was honored with the Public Service Award by the International Council of Reflexologists (ICR). This accolade is bestowed upon individuals who make significant contributions to both the public and the Reflexology community.

He has been in private practice in Ontario since 1977. He also has a private consulting business and is a Chartered Mediator (C.Med) and Qualified Arbitrator (Q.Arb) with the ADR Institute of Ontario. and the ADR Institute of Canada
