Dr. Footsie Fights Crime - After 30 years in podiatry, Dr. Martin A. Marks now is determined to creatively put feet to work against drugs, crime, and violence in young people's lives.

Marks, or "Dr. Footsie," as he affectionately is called in his Compton, Calif. community, has created a series of foot-related cartoon characters that he and his non-profit organization, Footsteps Sports Club, use to encourage kids to follow the right path in life. Recently, with the help of various companies and organizations, characters such as "Tipsy Toe" and "Toebacco" have been appearing in embroidered and screen printed form on T-shirts, hats, posters, and other imprintable items. The imprinted apparel is used to generate interest in Mark's program, which aims to keep kids off the streets and away from drugs and alcohol by offering art training and educational programs. Mark's former podiatry office has been transformed into an art studio where he teaches kids screen printing, animation, and more.
