Distance Education Courses

Distance education courses are available in the form of:

    - Correspondence - by postal mail
    - Electronic -  CDROM received by postal mail.

Students who have registered for a distance course will receive a textbook (hardcopy or electronic), and assignments.

Each student will be assigned a professor who will be available to answer any questions a student may have during the course.

To register for the course, go to the bottom of this page.

Time Limits:

A student is allowed up to 12 months to complete their studies and an additional 12 months to complete the examinations for a total of 24 months or 2 years. Any requests for extensions are to be made in writing to the Dean of the college stating reasons for extension request.

  Assignment - Chapter Test Sheets:

Within the textbook, a student will find that most chapters have a Chapter Test page at the end. These chapter test pages are the student's assignments. These mandatory chapter test sheets should be completed after the student have studied the chapter and sent in to the professor (or completed on-line). The chapter tests will be marked and returned to the student to show where the student's strong or weak areas are.

Session Records / Reflexology Health Portfolio:

As part of the certification process, the student must complete the following practicum procedures as part of the course requirements. This gives the student the required practical experience, record-keeping experience, and exposure to a variety of clinical conditions.

Practicum Requirements:

  • Course N101 - Foot Reflexology Course - The student is required to record a minimum of 70 reflexology sessions (70 hours) and to record the sessions in the prescribed manner. Each recorded reflexology session will be referred to as a Reflexology Record, not medical record.

  • Course N201 - Hand Reflexology Course - The student is required to record a minimum of 45 reflexology sessions (45 hours) and to record the sessions in the prescribed manner. Each recorded reflexology session will be referred to as a Reflexology Record, not medical record.

  • The purpose of completing the session records is to provide the student with practical experience - the more a student do, the better the student become and the easier it becomes.

Suggested Study Plan - Practical:

After the student have completed between 15 to 25 reflexology sessions, the student is required (mandatory) to video tape themselves giving a brief sample of the techniques as shown in Chapter 4, Reflexology Techniques.

The student is also required to video tape themselves giving a volunteer client a reflexology session.  The student then sends in the video tape along with the completed Reflexology Session Records to the professor for comments. The assessment fee has been prepaid to help offset additional mailing costs (Not applicable to N102 Upgrade students).

Do not produce the video tape after you have completed your minimum required session records (where you may have picked up incorrect habits). This will give your professor and yourself an opportunity to correct any improper procedures long before attempting your practical examination. Only VHS, VHS-C or mini-digital format (North American format) video tapes will be accepted.
